Alice Paul House

 

The Alice Paul House provides a safe place for women and children to stay while transitioning out of domestic abuse, counseling for victims of domestic abuse and sexual assault, legal and/or medical advocacy for victims of crime, help in filing crime victim compensation claims, and prevention/education programs for the community at large. Arcadia Mission

Financial support from our church budget and monthly food contributions from the congregation feed the hungry in the Aracadia community. This is Graystone 's mission to Betty Coble and her mission to the Aracadia Prebyterian Church.

Birthright

Birthright is a national organization that offers alternatives to women who face the experience of unplanned pregnancies. Birthright offers completely confidential help and non-judgmental and caring advice. They want women who are pregnant to know they have a variety of options that are available to them. They help to provide free pregnancy tests and prenatal information. They assist in making referrals to medical, legal, and educational professionals. They also assist with referrals to social service agencies. Local Birthright Organizations provide direct assistance in providing maternity and baby clothes as well as other needed supplies. Life Way Pregnancy Center

Life-Way exists to ?offer women in unplanned pregnancies alternatives to abortion, regardless of their religion, color or position in life.? Free services include: pregnancy testing, confidential lay counseling, needs before and after birth, education about abortion risks, adoption, parenting, STD?s, and abstinence. Parenting and abstinence programs are offered for public and Christian middle and high schools. Volunteers are welcomed to help. More info: http://www.life-way.org/.

Chevy Chase Community Center

The purpose of the Center is to “develop and implement human services programs and cultural, educational and social activities for all residents of Indiana County, without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age or handicapping condition.”  To help unemployed and underemployed persons, the center offers computer classes, after-school tutoring for youth, free breakfast, lunch and snacks for youth through the summer months, medical services and assistance with prescriptions, a food pantry, and a clothing bank.

 

Christian Counseling Center

 

The Christian Counseling Service of Indiana was created in 1987 to provide a Christian counseling resource in the community to reach people who do not have a church home, or might normally be uneasy about counseling in the church. The mission of the center is to reach out to people who need someone to talk to, and who are many times open to hear about Jesus and His love and power to heal and save us.  More info: (724) 465-5440.

 

Child Evangelism Fellowship

 

 

CEF is a “Bible-centered, worldwide organization composed of born-again believers whose purpose is to evangelize boys and girls with the Gospel of Christ, disciple them in the Word of God and establish them in the local church.” CEF provides guidance and materials to local churches in developing neighborhood Bible studies, strengthening existing children’s ministries, and outreach through Good News Clubs in schools.  More info: www.cefonline.com.

 

Eastern Orthodox Foundation

The Eastern Orthodox Foundation is dedicated to helping those who are “mentally impaired, handicapped, addicted, troubled, or those . . . who need a place to stay.”  Since 1966, EOF has provided shelter, food, clothing and medical attention to over 10,000 people.  No one is ever turned away.  “Propelled by a sacred trust, EOF is committed to engendering the God-given dignity of every person, to see the beauty and significance of every person beyond the veil of disabilities and hardships [and] liberating each guest to a full and productive life in the community.” More info: www.eofoundation.org.

 

Habitat for Humanity (new for 2008)

 

An international, ecumenical housing ministry which exists “to provide simple, decent homes to all of God’s people.”  HFH Indiana County’s goal is to eliminate substandard housing in Indiana County one family at a time.  Houses are built with volunteer labor and materials. Homeowners must invest 500 hours of sweat equity into the building or renovation of the home and then make monthly mortgage payments.  More info: www.habitatforindianacounty.com.

 

Helping Hand and Church Crisis Committee

 

The Helping Hand and Crisis Care are combined committees of the Diaconate at Graystone Church.  They serve the needs of individuals and families during times of illness, financial crises, or other situations where assistance is needed.  They coordinate meals, rides to doctor appointments, light yard work and/or household repairs, temporary babysitting, housesitting, animal feeding, etc.  Their desire is to meet any reasonable need made know to them by using the resource of members who have expressed a willingness to serve the congregation in this ministry.  The committees operate under the guidance of Jeff Denlinger to provide gift cards for groceries, clothing, or other items as appropriate.

           

Indiana County Care Net

 

Indiana County CareNet is “a network of religious congregations, community agencies and concerned community members, all with traditions of human concern for others, whose purpose is to work with the frail, elderly and people living with disabilities and their families in an effort to enable those served to maintain their independence, dignity and quality of life.”  More info.: www.care-net.net.

 

WMUG Radio

Established in 1966, the Christian Witness Radio program is the longest running Christian broadcast in the United States. Airing on WDAD 1450 AM as well as WMUG 105.1 FM, the program strives to expand the opportunities to expand the gospel. By inviting Christians to share their testimony, Christian Witness Radio seeks to connect with other Christians and encourage them to spread the Good News.  

WMUG 105.1 FM is a low power, non-commercial Christian radio station located in Indiana. WMUG prides itself in offering family friendly broadcasting while spreading the Good News in an informative and engaging manner through a broad selection of music and programming. The Switch

The Switch 103.7 FM is an Indiana County radio station. Through various types of Christian music, The Switch endeavors to minister to the youth of the area.

Open Door

The Open Door is a licensed counseling center with the mission “to provide for the people of Indiana County unconditional acceptance, education, treatment and a place of confidential sanctuary when they are addressing issues of substance abuse, addiction, and/or chemical dependency. Salvation Army

The mission of the Salvation Army is to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human needs in His name without discrimination.  The Salvation Army’s purpose is to win souls to the kingdom while using financial assistance programs as a means of outreach and opportunity for witness. St. Andrews Auxiliary

The mission of St. Andrew’s Village Auxiliary is to make St. Andrew’s Village feel as home-like as possible for the residents.  More info: www.Standrewsvillage.org.

 

St. Andrew's Rehabilitation Center

St. Andrew's Village will be constructing a state-of-the art inpatient/outpatient center and fitness/exercise gym. Fund raising is underway. For details on this center contact Brian Parks, executive director at 724 464 1600.
 

Note: In addition to the local mission partners described above, Graystone also supports a number of local mission partners through designated giving to the Presbytery of Kiskiminetas, including: The Presbytery Resource Center, Camp Board Operations, the Truck Stop Ministry, the State Park Ministry, the Prison Ministry at SCI Pine Grove, the Lay Pastor/Lay Preacher Program, and the Presbytery Youth Program.
